Summer Student Positions Available!
Title: Social Planning Assistant, Summer Position
Position Status: Full time (35 hours per week)
Reports To: Executive Director
Position Description: The summer student will support the social planning, education and awareness activities of the agency. A primary area of focus will be to assist with census data analysis at the neighbourhood level. The student will also assist with the gathering and compilation of local community data for the Community Trends Report.
Qualifications:
Experience:
The qualified candidate will be currently enrolled in one of the following fields of study: social work, social development, community psychology, or sociology
Experience with both primary and secondary research methods
Data analysis skills and ability to interpret statistics and demographics
Understanding of the non-profit sector
Key skills required:
Organizational and planning skills
Strong writing and effective communication skills,
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience working under pressure and with deadlines
Title: Information and Referral Assistant, Summer Position
Position Status: Full time (35 hours per week)
Reports To: Information and Referral Coordinator
Position Description: Isearchmycommunity.ca, a program of the SPCCND, provides a single point of access for information on community, social, health and government services in Waterloo Region, and provides local data to Ontario 211. The summer student will be responsible for entering, maintaining and updating data on human services organizations. This will include contacting organizations to ensure all information is correct; responding to the inquiry phone line; and helping community members from all walks of life gain access to human services to meet their needs.
Qualifications:
Experience:
The qualified candidate will be currently enrolled in one of the following fields of study: social work, social development, community psychology, or sociology
Knowledge of human services in Waterloo Region is an asset

Strong writing and effective communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

The SPCCND will be hosting Provincial All Candidates Meetings for the ridings of Cambridge and Kitchener South Hespeler.
