2017 Poverty Symposium

Each year the Social Planning Council of Cambridge and North Dumfries holds a poverty symposium to look at issues of poverty in our local community, provincially and nation wide. Members of the community are invited to join discussions, listen to guest speakers and participate in seminars.  At the symposium, we hope not only to educate the community about poverty related issues but also to take action toward poverty alleviation.

On June 15th, the SPCCND held our 12th Annual Poverty Symposium: Solutions to Poverty Includes Media. Approximately 80 people were in attendance including representatives from local social service agencies; local politicians; and community members with lived experience of poverty. At the symposium, attendees participated in thought-provoking activities and heard from local politicians; reporters; and other media personalities.

The SPCCND would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our speakers and panelists for their involvement at the symposium. We would also like to thank attendees for their participation at the event and their continued support.
